•BOARDS CREATIVE WORKSHOP COMING TO LA SEPT. 18> Save the date - Sept. 18 - as it marks the first appearance of the inspiration-packed Boards Creative Workshop series in Los Angeles. "I'm so pleased for Harvey," said Kurt Ritter, chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi's west coast operations. "This is a validation of all the innovative work we've
been doing at Saatchi & Saatchi LA. He's been a true partner. Harvey has
contributed a great deal to our business and our culture." Marco has been instrumental in developing the creative on the agency's Toyota account for the past five years. •BAZ LUHRMANN TO PRODUCE TOURISM AUSTRALIA CAMPAIGN> Australian tourism officials announced last week that Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrmann is in the midst of developing and producing a
global marketing campaign for Tourism Australia that will coincide with
the release of his World War II epic, Australia, starring
Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. The campaign will tie into print,
outdoor and online work conceived by DDB Worldwide and the TV/cinema ad
is being directed by Revolver's Bruce Hunt. The campaign will begin
airing in 22 global markets, including the United States, in October
and is expected to tie into themes from the movie Australia, but will also stand apart as a brand campaign. •ONE SHOW TO DOCUMENT OLYMPICS WITH PICTORIAL ESSAYS> The One Club has recruited 60 young Chinese ad professionals to show how the 2008 Beijing Olympics has impacted their lives through a series of pictorial essays. The project will be directed by photographer Peter Cunningham and One Club president Kevin Swanepoel, who has conducted a series of workshops with Chinese advertising students as part of the One Show China initiative. The essays will be posted online during the Games at OneClub.org. •RUSHES SOHO SHORTS WINNERS ANNOUNCED> Organizers of the 10th annual Rushes Soho Shorts Festival unveiled this year's round of winners at a ceremony held at London's Café de Paris last week. The event was hosted by Terry Christian and featured presenters Joseph Fiennes, Jaime Winstone, Jaye Griffiths, Magenta Devine and director Tim Pope. Director Joseph Pierce of the National Film and Television School received best animation honors for his short "Standup", "Souljah" by director Rikki Beadle-Blair won best short and Passion Pictures director Bonzom won best music video for Mika's "Lollipop". For the list of winners and runners-up, head to the festival's website. •LOERIE AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED> Cape Town agency King James claimed Grand Prix honors at South African advertising festival The Loeries for the Allan Gray Investment TV spot "Beautiful", directed by Velocity Films' Keith Rose. The awards were handed out at a ceremony held in the coastal town of Margate. Only one gold was given out in the TV/cinema category, for DraftFCB Johannesburg's four-spot campaign for Vodacom.
