RSA Films' roster to open a film/interactive production company in Los
Angeles called ACNE US. It will be headed up by EP Fran McGivern,
formerly of RSA's LA office. ACNE was founded in Stockholm in 1996 and
stands for Ambition to Create Novel Expressions. It operates as a
creative boutique, commercial production company, denim-wear design
house and magazine. Its film and interactive division has produced work
for clients such as Nike, EA Games, Coca Cola, Volvo, Burger King and
ESPN. •KOSINSKI TEAMS WITH Q DEPARTMENT FOR 'DIRECTOR SERIES'> Joseph Kosinski, director of Tr2n, the upcoming 3-D Tron sequel, is set to host the next edition of Q Department's avant-garde Director Series creative salon on November 10. Billed as "an homage
to the director as auteur of creating experiences", the idea for the
event is inspired by unexpected music direction that Q Department has
received from directors over the years. The first Directors Series
was a "three-hour musical journey" curated by MJZ director Tom Kuntz.

PS260 editor Maury Loeb will kick off a similar Editor Series with Q Department in late November. •RADIUM HOSTS 2nd SAN FRANCISCO AICE TRAILER WARS>Digital studio Radium is hosting the second annual San Francisco Trailer Wars event, sponsored by the Association of Independent Creative Editors (AICE). Set for Thursday evening, October 9th at 6:30 pm (screening 7pm) at Radium's San Francisco studio, the trailer-war themed event showcases the San Francisco AICE competition, challenging assistant editors to re-cut a movie trailer to fit a different genre. Choosing from seven popular titles, including Chinatown, The Last King of Scotland, American History X, The Devil Wears Prada, The Da Vinci Code, Capote and Superbad, assistant editors must cut a 90-second trailer promoting the film in a significantly alternate genre from which it was intended. The entrants may use any graphics, music, sound effects, animation, or any other component of post-production, provided that the entrants themselves create the elements. •ONE SHOW CHINA EXHIBIT IN NEW YORK> The One Club will
showcase works created by 450 young Chinese ad professionals over the
past seven years at its gallery in New York. The One Creative World, One Show China exhibition will open at The One Club Gallery (21 East 26th Street, 5th Floor) on October 28 and run through November 14. |
