The Amsterdam creative community showed its support for victims of Haiti's Earthquake with its Love Haiti benefit party, which took place on Feb. 5. The idea to host the party started with a simple question asked by a group from Wieden+Kennedy, Amsterdam: "What are we doing for Haiti?"
Quick to respond, Dutch artists collective Streetlab_Projectspace donated its venue, DJ MoManager gathered together some of the city's top turntablists and local band PigeonHorseSexTennis performed a live set.
Agencies Sid Lee, 180 and music house MassiveMusic were all on hand, helping Love Haiti to raise $22,000 through generous donations and a silent action. Partygoers could bid on original artwork from Pierre Janneau, Toby Morris and Faile; TimeOut memberships; salon services from Clint @ OhYouPrettyThings; gear from Nike SB; MTV memorabilia or a pair of jeans from the Gods of Denim.
All proceeds from the event go directly to Habitat for Humanity and the Haitian redevelopment project. With each $3,000 raised, Habitat can build a sustainable, weather-proof single room house for a Haitian family.
There are still auction items up for grabs. For more information on what's available to bid on, contact Jamie Kim: jamie(dot)kim(at)wk(dot)com
