Pot noodles make me horny, baby
Traktor gets big and brassy
We can't quite figure out if it's the dry British humour or the sight of a massive pantal protusion that induces the fits of convulsive laughter. We just get giddy at any opportunity to pun mercilessly on the implications of a curved horn in the pants.
It's probably a good thing that the scenarios in Traktor's Pot Noodle campaign would fare equally well in a Monty Python skit - or perhaps that was the inspiration. The pair of spots are "big and brassy", but in a good way.
The campaign idea is successful not only because it's fundamentally a good idea (a Pot Noodle jones), but also because it's horned in on the premise that good comedy usually involves the assumption that the central character doesn't realize his singleminded obsession is the reason for the situations he finds himself in.
In "Bar", a poor unfortunate Tom shocks and awes his companions and other patrons with the size and thrust of his concealed horn, demanding that he's got the Pot Noodle Horn and no one is going to take it away from him. Things finally get ugly when his indecent bulge whacks his girlfriend and knocks her off her seat. But his obsession cannot wait, "No time to chit chat, baby. My Pot Noodle horn is angry like a snake."
"Office" is equally well cast and executed as Steve arrives at the office with a horn to rival all Pot Noodle horns. "Nobody panic," he says, "I've got a Pot Noodle horn and it's as big as a trumpet." The actors are letter perfect and the undulating desk is a gem. Good, slippery fun.
NB: Although we featured the Pot Noodles campaign as a Top Spot in our March issue, we thought we'd give you a chance to get your horn on. Agency: HHCL/Red Cell, London. View the spots:
