  • FROM ADMUSIC TO EMOTO> The principles of AdMusic have formed Emoto, a company that will combine original music with licensing, remixing and a record label. Lead by composers John Adair and Steve Hampton the company will have offices in Santa Monica and Chicago. Emoto will feature a newly-formed music licensing division headed by Howard Paar, a Grammy-nominated music supervisor and a former executive with Mercury/PolyGram and V2 Records; and a Chicago production facility led by remixer/producer Craig J. Additionally, Emoto has forged an affiliation with the Chicago-based independent record label Uncommon Trax, headed by A&R executive Jim Romano and best known for its work with artists from the European Underground such as Kurtis Mantronik and Saffron Hill. To round out its services Emoto provides access to high-end sound design services through an association with 740 Sound Design.

  • ITG GROOVES WITH NETORKS> Minneapolis music house In The Groove Music formed a new purchasing, publishing and licensing unit called Giant Client Publishing. The ancillary business also announced, in a joint venture with Fire Records, Fourier Soundscaping, World Hop Entertainment and more than 15 independent artists, several music deals: an ongoing contract to provide original music for severa CBS and UPN shows, including CSI, 60 Minutes and Without a Trace; a three year contract to provide signature music packages for flagship CBS stations; Hip-hop and modern rock music catalogs projects for programming including Punk'd and Newlyweds; Original music cues project for NBC Sports coverage of "The AFL on NBC"; and Original music catalog projects for "Super Bowl XXXIX," "NASCAR on FOX" and "The NFL on FOX."

  • TRANQUIL EFFECTS> New York editorial house Blue Rock launched satellite visual effects and design division, Tranquility Base. The company will be lead by managing director/creative director Andy Milkis, whose credits include an NFL redesign for CBS and the Super Bowl, which garnered him an Emmy nomination; show opens for Will & Grace; and design/effects for the 2004 ESPY Awards on ESPN. Milkis will be joined by producer/sales rep Glen Carey, formerly assistant producer and copywriter at McCann Erickson.

  • CO3 NYC GETS UP> Company 3, New York has implemented Ascent Media's groundbreaking UP Satellite service. The technology allows Company 3 clients to participate in telecine sessions from remote sites with color calibrated monitors in real time while interacting with the artists performing the work. UP Satellite was introduced last year via Company 3's facility in Santa Monica, as well at R!OT Santa Monica and Encore Hollywood, and has been an overwhelming success.

  • PROMAX&BDA EMEA CALLS FOR JUDGES> In an effort to expose entries for its 9th annual Europe Awards, PROMAX&BDA EMEA is inviting broadcast design, promotion and marketing executives from around the globe to submit their names for jury consideration. The Europe Awards, scheduled to take place April 4-5, 2005 in Athens, Greece, will be judged online, allowing judges from around the globe to view and critique the ever-increasing number of Europe Award broadcast design and promotion campaign submissions.
