See eclipses OWNP

New agency emerges following departure of two namesake founders

San Francisco agency OWNP is no more following departures of partners Jeff Odiorne and Michael Wilde earlier this year. While change has been afoot since the summer, the agency, now called See, is just completing its restructure and rebranding.

The new agency retains the core staff of OWNP, including founder/CFO Andy Narraway and head of account services John Alderich, who have partnered with CEO Eileen Arbues (formerly of agency Camp Arbues of Outpost "Gerbil" fame, who joined the agency in July) and creative director Harry Cocciolo (formerly CD at Goodby Silverstein and Partners, who started last week).

Arbues says longtime client Electronic Arts will stay with the new incarnation of the agency, continuing a ten-year relationship between the client and creative teams. However, See has set up new digs in an expanded office across from San Fran's Pac Bell Park. The move, says Arbues is both to give the shop a new identity, and to accommodate the immediate and expected growth.

Given that EA is the agency's primary client, Arbues says the agency will retain a youthful vibe. "If you look at what the old team was best at, it was marketing to a youthful demo. EA is no longer a scrappy company that's chasing 18-year-old boys; it's now a multi-billion dollar corporation. But at their core is still a youth-oriented audience. And adding Harry to the team, who has experience working on big brands, will bring a nice balance."

As for the name, Arbues says, "there are probably 500 things that it implies, all of which have a level of relevance. But we chose it because clients look to us for vision and for new ways of communicating with their consumers that haven't been done before."
