Nike plays Musical Chairs

Traktor have again chugged into the limelight with a new pan-European commercial entitled "Musical Chairs" for Nike through Wieden + Kennedy, Amsterdam.

Following on from the much lauded "Tag" spot of 2001, "Musical Chairs" opens on a regular basketball game with stadium music pumping. When the organ music stops, however, chaos ensues as each basketball player and standing audience member races to find an empty seat; cheerleaders collide with mascots while players wipe out sports commentators in the quest for an elusive seat.

The spot ends with basketball ace Pau Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies racing to grab the final available chair against a basketball fan, losing the children's game by a matter of inches.

The spot was shot in three days at the Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas and directed by Ulf Johansson out of the Traktor offices in LA (Johansson has since left the collective to commence his own prodco, Smith and Jones Films with offices in London and Hollywood).

The spot is currently running on both terrestrial and theatre screens across Europe in :60 and :90 second formats. "Tag" (created by the Portland office of W + K) has also been re-released to coincide with the new commercial.
