Little Minx signs Laurent Briet

LA-based Little Minx has signed director Laurent Briet after shaping remarkable specs for both Radiohead and Aphex Twin.

"I'm planning to prove myself to the commercial world by working on more music videos," says the LA-based Briet. "I'll continue to experiment with new kinds of imagery and hope it becomes a gateway to spotmaking."

Briet has an impressive special effects background. After joining Buf Company in Paris as a CG artist in the mid '90s, he worked with Michel Gondry, Marc Caro, Joel Schumacher, Nico Beyer, Bruno Aveillan and Eric Coignoux until his departure in 1999.

He then joined forces with Olivier Gondry - brother of Michel - to open the 3D department of Santa Monica-based visual effects studio Method before his move to Little Minx and full-time directing.

At Method, Briet collected further experience with a wealth of directors including Francis Lawrence, Stephanie Sednaoui, Malik Sayeed, Sanji and Tarsem.

"I think that Laurent is in an unique position as a director," says fellow director Jonnie Ross of Tool in LA. "There are very few directors with his innate CG experience. He can clearly visualize a shoot and know in an instant what needs to be done. He's clearly one of the best ever in the field of CG."

Briet specializes in creating emotive imagery through the use of both in-camera photography and carefully constructed special effects.

"Like Spinning Plates" for Radiohead unveils a slow pan horizontally across various pieces of eclectic art installations within an enclosed warehouse.

For the shoot, the 280 feet of windows were blocked out in an abandoned building to capture a dark, rich palette on film, before two and a half weeks of post created the art on display.
