Vinton's Celluloid future
by: May 1, 2002 Print

Cel and 3D come together under one roof as 3D animation powerhouse Vinton Studios announces its acquisition of award-winning cel animators Celluloid Studios.

Seeds for the partnership were laid when the two companies collaborated on TBWA/Chiat/Day's interactive CD-ROM for Nissan (see Boards, May 2002). The 4-minute anime film Master of the Sixth Speed combined 2D and 3D animation.

Under the new structure both parties will retain their own names, and Celluloid will continue to manage its own production. Additionally, creative director James Wahlberg will continue directing for his live action prodco Visitor.
