Stimmung tackles Supervision and Research

Santa Monica-based music and sound design company has hired Santa Monica-based DJ and music supervisor Liza Richardson to run music supervision and research services.

Richardson is perhaps best known for her DJ sets on Santa Monica public radio station 89.9 KCRW, but she has also supervised music to film projects spanning both commercials and feature films. The new Stimmung division will deal with music licensing, research and consulting services for agencies seeking to infuse their spots with original music from all manner of artists.

As for Richardson's other work, her musical C/V includes her ongoing Saturday night show on KCRW, "The Drop," as well as a stint as an independent music supervisor with Ten Music. With Ten, Richardson acted as a creative music supervisor and added some commercial pieces to her reel.

In terms of connecting spots with artists and songs, she linked Acura "Palm Springs" with a Nicola Conte track, Infiniti "Power of Speech" with Coco Steele and Love Bomb, Apple PowerBook "It May Be" with Minus8, Acura "Key Largo" with Sarah Vaughan, Apple ibook "Universe" with Mirwais, Honda "Volume" with Ray Condo and his Ricochets and finally, she played a part in connecting Microsoft with Madonna in a recent high profile campaign.

Her continuing role with Stimmung will see her collaborating with creatives, broadcast producers and musically savvy directors, researching tracks, negotiating licensing and commissioning remixes where needed. She is unaffiliated with any given artist or label. She has been shredding wax for KCRW since 1990 and has had her various shows made into compilations for Warner Brothers and syndicated by MTV.

Also, Richardson supervised music for films including "Arlington Road" and "Crime & Punishment In Suburbia," as well as the upcoming features "The Mothman Prophecies" and "Y Tu Mama Tambien."
