Dean Winkler has resigned as chief operating officer of the New York Media Group and as president of its Post Perfect facility. Patrick Howley, Post Perfect co-founder, has assumed the new title of general manager.
Winkler is currently preparing to work on various consulting projects in the realm of HDTV, broadcasting and datacasting projects, presently acting as a new technology and creative consultant for bicoastal Crossroads Films.
Howley, who worked closely with Winkler over the years, believes the company has a bright future and is more concerned over upcoming creativity within Post Perfect rather than gathering impressive titles.
"I want to get away from the idea of having the title president; everyone thinks you sit in an office and do nothing all day," explains the down-to-earth general manager Howley.
"Now that I'm in charge of the company, I am going to spend a lot more time with my marketing hat on," continues Howley. "Plus we have an exciting media venture ahead of us called Liquid Labs, where the compression and transmission of digital images and sound will be placed on a delivery Web site, replacing the need to courier videotapes to our clients."
Howley is left in charge of Post Perfect, Cyclotron (production, design and visual effects) and Mixed Nuts (digital recording and mixing studios), while creative director Alex Seiden will pick up many of Winkler's creative duties.
Howley's management team includes Angela Bowen, managing director of Cyclotron, and director of engineering Doug Butler who inherits Winkler's substantial legacy of technical excellence.
