Los Angeles-based Liberty Media Group has purchased London's Soho Group, a post production group comprised of Soho 601, Soho Images and Computamatch.
The deal, valued at about US$25.5 million, follows a number of acquisitions by Liberty and its subsidiary, 4MC, also based in Los Angeles. Earlier this year, the American corporation purchased the UK's Todd AO, Telecine, XTV, Rushes and SVC as well as New Jersey-based Video Services Corporation (owner of post houses including Manhattan Transfer).
While the most recently purchased London post houses will continue to be independently run, Mark Hewitt, group managing director of Liberty's London commercial sector (and managing director of Rushes) will oversee the London facilities the company now owns.
