The Mill Adds Sherwood, Boosts Barmer Amid New e-services Initiative
London based post-production house, The Mill, has named Andy Barmer development director of new media and Mark Sherwood as facilities manager.
Barmer has been with The Mill for nearly ten years. In 1995, Barmer was promoted to head of the production department and has been running the day to day operations at The Mill as facility director for the past two and a half years.
Recently, Barmer developed an avid interest in the potential of the Internet as a vehicle to supply televisual material. This led to his new role as development director of new media and the recent launch of emill digital delivery service, an on-line delivery service for clients to receive approval quality files in various forms, such as QuickTime or Mpeg, to be accessed via a password-secure website.
"We basically shape and supply an easy to use, simple Website that is secure to be accessed via a password," explains Barmer. "We have also developed links with international facilities to send much bigger files that can be recorded to tape. You can then have a broadcast quality film in about an hour that is cheaper than courier and satelite, and much cheaper than both."
Sherwood, who arrives on the scene after gathering 20 years of commercials experience as both client and producer, will assist in developing The Mill's new e-services initiative.
Earlier this year Sherwood joined The Mill as senior producer. He has worked on award winning commercials that include British Airways 'Manhattan', COI Drink Drive campaigns, Anchor's Footballing Cows and Ariston's 'On and On' campaign. Sherwood has also shaped high profile music videos for David Bowie, Tears for Fears, Queen, Deacon Blue, and The Human League while working alongside directors such as Ken Russell, Richard Loncraine, Andy Morahan and Mike Leigh.
