Nike Visits Bracketville

Joe Pytka of Pytka directed a pool of spots for Nike through Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Oregon.

The "Bracketville" spots glorify life in the fictional town of Bracketville.

Bracketville is a basketball-obsessed town, where a basketball net proudly swings from the town flagpole and college basketball brackets are painted on the streets.

Each Nike spot illuminates a different aspect of life in the town, whose motto is "Stay as long as you can." Residents would much rather attend a drive-in theater that shows a college basketball championship game with a Hollywood ending, than a typical movie in the "Drive-In" spot. "Hardware" features store clerks played by WNBA stars who help customers find the right bounce ratio for their hardwood floors.

Cameo appearances by several current and former basketball coaching legends occur throughout the campaign.

An interactive component of the campaign invites viewers to visit the Web site at http://www.nike.com/bracketville to cast their vote to elect a new mayor for Bracketville. Other interactive elements will roll out during March.

Agency producer is Andrew Loevenguth. Creative directors are Hal Curtis and Bob Moore; art director is Matt Peterson; copywriter is Ian Cohen and the account executive is Alistair Campbell. Executive producer at Pytka is Linda Masse.
