Vigorsol "The Legend" > Chipmunks are for some reason by their very nature funny. Flatulence equally makes even the most mature among us snicker like an acne-ridden teenage boy. Combine the two and you have a puerile, laugh-out-loud spot from Stink's recent signing Ben Dawkins. The dubious, tenuous premise of using a farting rodent to advertise chewing gum should be overlooked for the simple fact that, yes, that really is a chipmunk floating a titanic air biscuit to put out a forest fire. Beautifully animated, eloquently written and downright scatological. How often can you say that?

adidas "Impossible Is Nothing 2007" > Adidas and 180\TBWA eschew the tried and tested (read: often boring) sports brand clichés for their 2007 Impossible is Nothing campaign to tell stories from top sporting figures including David Beckham and Jonah Lomu. Shot against a spare grey background, each sportsperson draws themselves, then tells their individual stories through art, simply but vividly animated by Passion Pictures. The results are a surprisingly intimate and refreshingly unmacho look at the humanity and hardships faced by sports stars that steers clear of mawkishness. A winning play.

Diet Coke "Frames" > As if their recent track record wasn't enough evidence, Coca-Cola's decision to change agencies has reaped bountiful creative rewards that have made the world's most saccharine fizzy drink - whisper it - cool again. For Diet Coke, Furlined's Dougal Wilson directs his US debut (remarkably) for Wieden + Kennedy, sprinkling his special blend of technical flair and light, quirky direction over a young woman's quest for a can of caffeine as she pops up in various photos on a wall of holiday snaps. Peppy, effervescent, refreshing and sweet without being sickly.

Scion xB "Tower Of Grantville" > What, no packshot? Scion and Attik continue in their 'what the blazes?' vein of recent ads with "Tower of Grantville", a two-minute gothic fairytale bought to life with a striking mix of 2D, 3D and illustrative animation. With little brief - other than including a square-headed character and a link to the site want2bsquare.com - animation house Buck has gone to town, introducing us to all manner of fantastical creatures including the tyrannical square-headed Gumpton and the troublesome Blumptons. A brave move from Scion and sublime execution from Buck.

PlayStation 3 "Hotel" > Hype. Yawn. Overrated by name and nature, destined to disappoint, right? Or not. As Boards was going to press we got a tantalizing taste of Dante Ariola's "Hotel", a hype double whammy: one of the most talked about scripts for one of the most talked about UK launches. In a trailer for the forthcoming six-minute film, Ariola has taken the premise of Robert Rodriguez's Four Rooms - weird folk in a hotel, do... well, weird things - and transposed it to ad land. An ambitious, epic idea, stunningly shot, it's sure to develop into something very interesting. We hope (or hype?).
