Associated Production Music
New Releases: APM, a joint venture of EMI Music Publishing and BMG Music Publishing, releases on average 15 to 25 CDs of advertising-applicable tracks a month. CDs released so far in '07 include classic rock collections spanning from the Fifties to the Eighties, Dark Drama, Highrise House, Emotive Orchestral and Organica.
Tech Talk: APM's latest delivery technology allows people to share tracks between one another. APM has converted uncompressed Wave files to B-waves inside the audio file itself, with metadata available to use with third parties such as SoundMinor and NetMix, and has encoded music so people who use MP3s or iTunes can view artwork and embedded audio files.
Recent Hits: Clients include American Express, Verizon, K-Mart, Cuervo, AXE, Hasbro and Domino's.
Ahead for '07: The company aims to tap new sources of talent and tracks in 2007. A recent online distribution deal with Big Fish Media made selected portions of the APM catalogue available for consumer purchase through sites such as iTunes and Napster.
Groove Addicts
New Releases: This year, Groove Addicts Production Music added over 100 new releases and collections, including: Liftmusic Vol. 18 - Jake's Twisted Road Trip (rock cues); Liftmusic Vol. 22 - Dreams of the Delta (bluesy); Happy Hip-Hop; Minimalism; Solos/Eclectic Vol. 3; Film Scores Vol. 4; and collections ranging from indie pop/college rock to reggaeton to orchestral drama. Two new installments of the electronica series Ignite are also popular.
Tech Talk: "We're seeing more delivery via our website as well as a dramatic rise in hard drive delivery," says Groove Addicts' Bill Stolier. Online upgrades involve increasing search, preview and track download capability as well as management of client projects.
Recent Hits: TV work includes promos for NBC's Heroes, CW's Supernatural, America's Next Top Model and The Game. Features include Deck The Halls and the ESPN network has tapped the libraries.
Ahead For '07: "We see a big year ahead for our film, advertising and gaming divisions, as well as an overall increase of usage as we expand our catalogue," says Stolier, citing two new UK libraries - Audio Network and Reliable Source Music - as "seeing big increases in usage".
Megatrax
New releases: North Hollywood-based Megatrax added three new music series: Cinematic Trailers to the Megatrax library, and Urgent Grooves and Investigation to its Amusicom library. Additions have also been released in classic rock, country, urban, funk, blues, jazz, acoustic pop/rock and regional Mexican styles.
Tech Talk: Marketing manager Wendy Brueder reports, "We are the first to offer our libraries in any music format (WAV, AIFF, MP3, bWav) on one compact 500GB hard drive with an internal search engine. For traditionalists we still create and ship CDs."
Recent hits: Megatrax music has appeared in national TV commercials for Charlotte's Web and the John Grisham book The Innocent Man and Burger King's Xbox game "Sneak King".
AHEAD FOR '07: "We expect to add up to 50 CDs of music to our libraries," says Brueder. "2007 will also bring two new contemporary libraries to the mix of offerings."
Non-Stop Music
New releases: New collections have been pouring in both from Non-Stop's in-house studio (LA East) and from represented international catalogues. Non-Stop's own newest releases include Country 1, Epic 2, and Americana/Big Sky, while on the represented catalogue side, UK music library Cavendish's newest releases include Acoustic & Raw and Pop Rock Euphoria. And from South Africa's Mathambo Music, there's Zulu Roots, and Reflections of Africa.
Tech Talk: Non-Stop launched its online music search and download engine, CUEgle in February of '06, providing customers with an interface resembling an actual CD collection and 11,000 CDs (or 35,000 tracks) to choose from.
Recent Hits: Movie trailers have included Shrek 3, the latest Harry Potter, Bee Movie, Eragon, Night at the Museum, Flags of our Fathers, and Ant Bully. Commercial work includes Jenny Craig, Citibank, and Arby's. On the TV front, Non-Stop has provided tracks for My Name Is Earl, Girlfriends and The Sopranos.
Ahead For '07: Having established a foothold in the movie trailer, advertising and corporate niches, Non-Stop's looking to expand further into radio and TV.
