BAsement JAxx> Take Me Back To Your House
Shot on location in Kiev so as to be in closer proximity to the world's foremost cossack dancers, "Take Me Back To Your House" marries the rustic, vodka-drenched charm of your garden variety Russian loghouse party with the slightly bonkers playfulness of Kuntz & Maguire's Avalanches promo, "Frontier Psychiatrist". A parade of elaborate costumes, dancing bears and Soviet themed-gags, it's all held together by a cleverly deployed colorization theme and director Dougal Wilson's sharp sense of timing. Ten leg kicks out of a possible ten. [Prodco: Colonel Blimp; Label: XL Recordings] MP

Bonnie Prince Billy> Cursed sleep
Here's the plotline to "Cursed Sleep" in a nutshell: folky beardo Bonnie Prince Billy (aka Will Oldham) wakes up in a forest, blindfolded and wearing a coat of feathers. He wanders to a farm where a family takes him in, feeds him milk and birthday cake and bestows him with a fresh red hoodie and a homing pigeon. One night, while the rest are engaged in an acoustic guitar/clarinet jam session, the family's jealous little brother dons an E.T. disguise and offs the birdie, in turn causing our hero to fly the coop in grief, leaving a trail of crimson sportswear in his wake. If director Andy Bruntel isn't your favorite after that, there's nothing else we can say. [Prodco: N/A; Label: Drag City] MP

OK Go> Here it goes Again
The sequel to the Chicago quartet's self-directed, much-imitated 2005 smash "A Million Ways" finds them once again proving
they've got the nimblest feet in indie rock. Where that lo-fi viral featured the band performing a series of goofy dance moves in their backyard, this one finds them performing a series of goofy dance moves across a set of eight running treadmills. Boasting tighter choreography than your average off-Broadway musical, it's also demolished the original in popularity, garnering 3.6 million hits in its first two and a half weeks on YouTube alone. Somewhere, they're doing jazz hands. [Label: Capitol] MP
