Finalist: Animators

JUST THE FACTS: Age - 22; Hometown - Norwich, Vermont; Education - Computer animation at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan; Employ - Framestore, NY since Aug. 2005.

BEST WORK: Geico's "Invitation", featuring a smooth-talking gecko. "You put all your emotions behind the character on the screen," he says. "During the first few spots, I happened to land on the last shot, where clients never could decide how they want him how to feel. It led to several different routes for me to work with."

WHAT MAKES A GOOD ANIMATOR: Animators need to be good observers; luckily, NYC is the perfect place for sensory overload. "I like getting lost and just wandering around and checking out new places," he says.

THE YOUNG GUY: Although he's interned at Hornet Inc. and freelanced for Psyop, being the youngest member of Framestore was daunting. "Other animators came in with experience from out west and it was intimidating until the ball got rolling," he says. "I still feel like the young guy sometimes, because I definitely am."
