Pot Noodle "Office", "Bar"> Is that a horn in your pants...? HHCL/Red Cell continues to mine the depths of bawdy humor for Pot Noodle by showing men who are unable to hide their desire for soup in a pot. As his urge for Pot Noodle rises, a giant brass horn appears in a poor fellow's pants. Once observant onlookers point out the horn-on for the Noodles, he whips it out, gives it a big blow and runs off to indulge in his lusty cravings. The tag advocates the practice by asking, "Have you got the Pot Noodle Horn?" Not so subtle close-ups of the horn affliction elevate these spots to 'did they just show that' territory.

Adidas "Made to Perfection"> Us mere mortals have always secretly harbored the notion that some mythical puppetmaster up there crafts balletic NBA supergiants like Kevin Garnett, Tracy McGrady and Tim Duncan. "Made to Perfection" cleverly follows that premise. In a future workshop, the Maker of NBA crafts the stars by hand with loving detail. Once the trio of newly minted NBA All-Stars are under glass, the Maker reaches his divine hand through the heavens and pries open the roof of a stadium, placing each on the court, adding a basketball to the mix as a final prodding gesture.

VW "Singin' in the Rain"> Messing around with iconic film moments can be tricky. Or it can result in a clever update. DDB London reached the latter in bringing Gene Kelly breakdancing into the 21st Century for its new Golf GTI. The spot begins with the classic Singin' in the Rain stroll. It all quickly changes when Kelly starts breakdancing, body popping and somersaulting to an energetic electro remixed version of the original tune. Not only do flawless effects and set design make the execution believable, but the concept perfectly supports the idea that the new Golf is 'the original, updated'.

Sesame Street "Heroes"> This commercial has figured out something few have: How to communicate to adults in a mature and moving way what is so inherently magical about the Sesame Street phenomenon. The execution is simple and uses a series of childhood photos dating back to the 1920s. A slide show of pics often signals the absence of an original idea, but the twist here is that Neil Armstrong, Mahatma Gandhi, Jackie Robinson and Martin Luther King Jr. are among the kids. The payoff at the end: 'Every child is a story yet to be told. 35 years of believing in the potential of every child.'

KFC "Flock of Seagulls"> In this ad for KFC from BBH, London, a family addresses their son's penchant for overdone, '80s-inspired hair by songfully equating personal choices to the many offerings in a KFC variety bucket. It's totally ridiculous and a lot of fun as mother becomes the soul-voice of reason and son gets a dig in on his bald-headed father. In another spot, a woman's vocal histrionics shut down a co-worker who wants a bite of her chicken sandwich. The humor of the scripts elevate these spots above a mere dialogue-in-song schtick.
