W+K, GS&P control AICP

Work for Nike, Honda, HP racks up big scores

NEW YORK - Wieden + Kennedy and Goodby Silverstein & Partners dominated the AICP show last month.

W+K collected 11 honors for clients ranging from Nike (work included "Speed Chain", "Gamebreakers", "Musical Chairs" and Tokyo's "Flow") and ESPN ("Makeshift") to Honda ("Cog" and "Taken for Granted", aka "Everyday"). GS&P clocked eight mentions for its HP work ("FTD", "You", "The Wind" and "Bang & Olufsen") and "Birthday" from the California Milk Processing Board's Got Milk campaign.

David Fincher's direction on "Speed Chain" and "Gamebreakers" put Anonymous Content atop the prodco pile with nine honors. It was also recognized for Xelibri "Beauty for Sale" (through Mother, London), amongst others.

Following a close second was Biscuit Filmworks' Noam Murro with eight honors for "Birthday"; Morgan Stanley "Kevin"; Volkswagen "The Story of Ben"; and HBO's surprising comedic effort, "Watercooler".

The international awards looked like a carbon copy of this year's D&AD TV winners as PS2 "Mountain" (TBWA), and Honda "Cog"/"Everyday" were singled out.

As for campaigns, while individual spots appeared nowhere else in the show, the complete efforts for iPod ("Hip Hop"/"Dance"/ "Rock") for TBWA, Citibank ("Geek"/"Outfit"/ "Flaps") for Fallon and IBM ("Magician"/ "Museum"/"Mob") for Ogilvy were called out.

In the graphics field, LA's Motion Theory cleaned up for the third year in a row for Nike "Flow" and "Ribbons"/"Rootz".

Happily, a couple of Boards favorites of the year - Sega "New Heroes" from Justin Reardon of Turnpike Films and Kranky's Master Cabbie work - were honored in the low-budget category. View the full AICP results online.
