Visa "Lost Luggage"
Kuntz & Maguire do a fantastic job of turning leatherette into leading protagonist for Visa. Part of a campaign that provides examples of Utopian financial life, "Lost Luggage" posits what would happen if suitcases had homing devices. At the press of a button, a lost bag springs into action, traversing high and low to wheel its way back to its rightful owner. The jaunty soundtrack is a perfect fit, and the tenacity of the wayward bag - especially the mid-air, air-to-boat leap and the split-screen action - is priceless.

Honda "Cog"
It's not often a spot grabs you without music, crafty dialog or high-end effects. Honda "Cog" does just that. The 2:00 spot follows a domino-like mechanical chain reaction set off by one simple cog. Mufflers, tailpipes, screws, tires and more interact with each other until a spanking new Accord rolls off the platform. "We wanted to show how beautifully the car was made," says copywriter Walker. "We felt it best to take it apart and show each component." Simple, clean direction intensifies the balletic movements of the apparatus.

Pioneer "Headbangers"
Appealing to 'tuners' - those extreme auto-enthusiasts in the male 16- to 24-year-old demo - this animated spot for Pioneer shows how deep the love for a good sound system can be. Animated by Michael Overbeck (check his tricked-out short Tongues and Taxis), four dudes rock out hard while cruising the streets in a convertible. As the volume of the stereo increases, so too does the fervor of headbanging, until one guy's head flies right off. It's an uncomplicated idea - rocking out - executed with authenticity.

Johnnie Walker "Fish"
Magical and majestic best describe Johnnie Walker's "Fish". In the spot, a school of amphibious humans frolics between the shadows and sunbeams of a tropical sea, periodically leaping from the water. As the soundtrack of delicate arpeggios drives the action, one swimmer plants foot to ground and walks from the water. With the help of Framestore CFC, visual maestro Daniel Kleinman brings his craft a step further by taking the notion of evolution and applying it to the whisky brand's tag: "Keep Walking".

Nintendo "Rush"
Nintendo attempts to catch up to the subversive nature of advertising from PlayStation and Xbox with a new visceral spot for its GameCube. Shot in Australia over two days, the spot shows a man experiencing violent nightmares as cubes manifest themselves within his body. Extreme close-ups and wide-angle shots utilizing Panavision's Frasier lens - capable of extreme depth of field - give the spot a creepy, surreal quality, exactly the look that director Milk was seeking.
