Santa Monica-based design and editorial firm Goodspot has moved to a sunny 5,000-square-foot studio, formally divided their operations into Goodspot Editorial and Goodspot Design, and hired multi award-winning creative director Sonia Lamba, formerly of Attik, London.
Richard Kaufman, Goodspot's MD and founder, says the expansion was based on the company's solid growth, but that the impetus behind distinguishing the editorial and design capacities of Goodspot was client-driven. "I think people who have a design issue want a company with expertise," he says.
About his prize hire, he says having Lamba on board has helped build the company's momentum. Lamba's recent title design on Cheaters for Newline Cinema won Best Main Title Design at RESFEST 2001.
Goodspot's staff numbers 12 and works with After Effects, Maya, Illustrator and Media Composer on G4's, and the company's work is generated largely from commercial, movie marketing and corporate clients. Other recent work includes the launch package for Chinese Central Television's Travel Channel, a three-minute sales piece for Nike, an in-show promo for the Lexus 2054 concept car through Team One Advertising and Planet of the Apes, Jurassic Park III, and Rush Hour 2 promos for DIRECTV.
