Industry mourns Pomerans
by: Mar 1, 2002 Print

Area 51 executive producer Matthew Pomerans, 38, died on Jan. 25, 2002 of an apparent heart attack.

Pomerans joined the Santa Monica-based production company in May of 2001 after an already prolific career in the commercials arena. He had worked briefly with Basecamp Entertainment, prior to which he was executive producer of Satellite Films. At Satellite, the British native produced for the now-defunct company's impressive roster of directors, collecting numerous industry accolades. He also worked for periods with both Nitrate Films and Bedford Falls.

Pomerans is survived by his wife, Linda, and two daughters, Hannah and Sophie. A College Fund for his daughters has been set up: all donations should made out to Merrill Lynch and mailed to Area 51 Films, 1501 Colorado Avenue, Santa Monica, CA, 90404. Please be sure to note the checks are for the Pomerans Children's College Fund.
