Yessian Music, the Detroit music house that recently celebrated its 30th year of business, has expanded its operations to the West Coast with the opening of a Malibu studio.
The opening of the Malibu office was undertaken by composer/sound designer Hayley Moss, who in late 2000 spearheaded Yessian's opening in New York City.
Dan Yessian launched the family business in 1971 and continues to have a very active role in the company; his eldest son Brian is now creative director for the studio, and his younger son Michael will join the company as a composer in the spring of 2002.
"In the last three years, we have started to expand and diversify. Since we started in Detroit, we've always been known as automotive shop. We were interested in grabbing other styles of work and also getting into TV work, film work, multimedia type things," says Brian Yessian.
Yessian will continue to work with rep/producer Jeremy Berman and a number of freelance composers in New York, while Moss will be based out of house/studio in Malibu.
