For FCB and client Manzanita Sol, Lost Boys and director Jose Hinajosa of Imax Productions, Mexico, created an invisible man scenario. Riding a film noir train to nowhere, a lovely lady sips her apple soda while an invisible man stealthily removes his bandages in order to invisibly steal her beverage; too bad for him, the juice courses through his veins, illuminating him and making it possible for the woman to crack him on the skull.
Effects supervisors Allan Henderson and Jude D. Shane were on set to supervise the filming of an actor in blue mask and body suit with the required tracking shots; the blue portions were later rotoscoped out and replaced with clear background plates. 3D animation came into play to create bandages and atmosphere, as well as the form of the invisible man with Manzanita Sol pulsing through his veins.
The Teran/TBWA spot "Roosters" for Presidente Brandy taps into a sport loved the world over, cock fighting. Enrique Begné of Cuatro Y Medio Productions directed the spot for creative director Jorge Aguilar. The spot has a crowd cheering on the blood sport between two fowl; they edge nearer and nearer, seemingly moving in for the kill. Finally they meet, but instead of rending one another apart, they embrace in a frighteningly human manner (Brandy makes everyone friendly).
Eric Petey of Lost Boys was the onset effects supervisor for "Rooster." Each bird was shot on blue screen and then digitally enhanced to ensure proper motion before being composited onto the arena background plates. As for the chicken embrace, animal anatomy books and raw samples from a local deli were used and 3D wing models with accurate bone and muscle structures were constructed and then texture mapped by 3D artist Erik Ellefsen.
