While the operations of New York-based Shooting Gallery have come to a halt and nearly all of its staff has been cut, at least three of its commercial directors will continue to work in the US.
Directors Richard D'Alessio and the team of Spooner and French will continue spot work in the US through Toronto-based Imported Artists, which represents the three directors in Canada (and which is D'Alessio's home shop).
Spooner and French have completed their first US project through Imported Artists, an LA shoot for Goodby Silverstein & Partners.
The Toronto production company is working with Shooting Gallery reps Help! on the east coast, Rich Newman & Associates in the Midwest, and Reber Covington on the west coast. Imported Artists exec producer Christina Ford says no decision have yet been made on how this arrangement will evolve.
Toronto-based incubator Itemus had completed its take over of Shooting Gallery in May.
Earlier this month Itemus announced it would need to raise $10-15 million before its third quarter ends September 30 and that it may have to cover up to $10 million in debt from the acquisition of Shooting Gallery.
Talks are still ongoing, says an Itemus spokesperson to determine if there are other alternatives for the future of Shooting Gallery.
