London-based BFCS has decided to close shop after more than 30 years of business, deciding it was no longer viable for the company to maintain its overheads. Managing director Lynnette Kyme will finalize current productions through BFCS' video arm, Vigilante. The development signifies an over-saturated British market with production companies and directors competing over a limited number of boards. London-based Douglas & Jones are also rumored to be closing.
"[Lynnette and I] were talking about setting up Vigilante as a commercial venture, since we're now running commercials through here but we will see what happens," explains Siobhan Murphy, head of music videos at Vigilante.
"Obviously we're on the move and hoping to hit the ground running," continues Murphy. "In effect we're still running operations here, completing commercials and running the music video side without BFCS - we have a month left and then we'll relocate."
