Arman Matin first flexed his creative muscle at the now-defunct R/Greenberg Associates before arriving at New York-based visual effects and design house Rhinoceros. Here is a brief synopsis of his thoughts relating to animation (see more on Matin in the February issue of Boards).
Boards: How would you describe yourself professionally?
Matin: Above all I am a commercial artist, delivering spots that both meet my clients objectives and contain unique tones of style and direction. I cannot imagine a better and faster learning arena than commercial production.
Boards: What challenges do you encounter in today's media-rich environment?
Matin: Today's creative challenges are no different than those of creatives who worked on the first cave paintings. Sure, we have breakthrough technology and tools to create new forms of art, but giving it a fresh look depends solely upon the creator. However, a closer observation of the contemporary trends in fashion, art and music is essential to keep our outcome in vogue.
Boards: Inspirations?
Matin: Today's merger of art and technology; we are experiencing a unique medium for creative expression and communication. I can't help but feel lucky to be a part of this modern revolution. It has proved to be an effective tool for the expression of my unique ideas and concepts.
