Editor Chris Van Dyke and exec producer Katherine Bate have opened Relish, a Toronto-based editorial boutique.
Van Dyke most recently edited for V2, New York, prior to which he worked for several years at Toronto's The Daily Post. Bate began her career as an assistant to editor Michelle Czukar, who was then an editor at Toronto's Partners.' She then spent several years producing commercials and music videos for Toronto's Players Film Company. The pair met through various jobs and, only a month ago, decided to form their own company. Van Dyke says he relishes [Sorry-ED] the chance to run his own business:
"New York wasn't challenging enough. I felt coming back here and doing something on my own and working with my client base here was going to be better for me," he says.
Along with Van Dyke, editor Marc Collister and assistant editor John Zubac round out the cutting staff at Relish. Van Dyke has Lemon-Aid Hotline, Rogers, Nettlemax, Wendy's, mbanx, Cotton Council, Timberland, TVO as well as a trailer for a CTV legal drama, The Associates. Collister has edited spots for Fila, National Kids Day, Bridgestone, Caritas, Mobil, Soo Greyhounds and Chuppa Chups.
