Germany's Das Werk, one of Europe's largest post and production facilities, acquired a majority stake in London-based Glassworks Productions Ltd. The move comes after Glassworks was left to seek a new creative and financial partnership in June, when Eidos Interactive announced its withdrawal of involvement in the company.
At a press conference in London on October 27th, Joachim Sturmes, Das Werk's chief financial officer and speaker of the board of directors outlined the beneficial effects of Das Werk acquiring an 85 percent stake in Glassworks.
A clear objective for Das Werk is to tap into the highly creative commercial and music video arena in London, hence the appropriation of Glassworks, one of London's leading post-production houses specializing in digital effects. Future purchases of UK outposts are expected.
Hector MacLeod, Glassworks' managing director believes the German house will provide guidance and assistance as Glassworks moves part of its core business away from service animation and effects work to the production of digital content.
