Robert Latorre, director/cameraman and founder, Big Fish Films, Dallas:
"We represent four directors out of America Films, Mexico City, in the Southwest. There is a lot of Hispanic work in the Southwest as some of the major Hispanic agencies in the country are in Texas. No matter where you want to shoot, you can use an Anglo director or a Hispanic director as you see fit. Clients want options; as many different permutations of production as you can provide."
Tom Aberg, co-founder and leader of Easyway Editorial:
"We've needed an online finishing system in house to accommodate our clients needs for sometime and our Discreet Smoke room was just finished. Our motto has been 'creativity unencumbered by technology.' We've worked with the Richard's Group on Nokia spots, a campaign for Super Value Grocery Stores and some work for Stars/Encore (a cable channel), Square One on the Whataburger Stuff and with GSD&M in Austin. We've also worked with Grupo Quattro, a local Hispanic agency."
John Sircus, director of broadcast, Temerlin McClain, Dallas:
"We are an agency that happens to be in Dallas, but we are a national agency, with national accounts like American Airlines, Bank of America, Subaru and Nortel. I would say we probably do more in LA than we do in Dallas and by virtue of us being west of the Mississippi, we do more in LA than in New York. But we shoot all over the world, whenever necessary. We work with local companies that do national-level work, particularly those like Directorz. We do more with Jeff (Bednarz) than with any other local production company. We work in Dallas whenever we can find the personnel, etc., for what needs to be done."
Jeremy Besser, executive producer, Directorz Film Inc, Dallas:
"When the SAG strike first hit, things slowed down for a bit, but now it's pretty close to business as usual. People calling now are looking at August to shoot, mostly talent heavy stuff, dialogue driven stuff. There have been no protests that I have seen and there is pretty good talent in Dallas. Since we are a right to work state there is a lot of non-union talent around here."
